Church to host free drive-in nativity for all to enjoy

BY KIMBERLY LARUSSA On Saturday, Dec. 9 bundle up the kids and come see the true meaning of Christmas at The Assembly of God Church’s annual drive-in nativity.

“The drive-in nativity is something we put together every other year as a free gift to the community.

It’s complete with actors, animals, sets, and in-car sound and refreshments,” said Pastor Stan Handzlik. The nativity will take place 6 and 7:30 p.m. at Springville Assembly of God Church, 57 Transit Line Road, Springville.

Cars will be parked facing the trees and sets. Guests will get a glimpse into Mary’s house, The Inn, the Stable, and other significant places as well.

There will be shepherds and animals like sheep, goats, a donkey, and a llama (to replace the camel).

“We will have beautiful music and the nativity is professionally recorded and the sound is amazing. After the baby is born we will also have a scene that takes place sometime beyond that point when the Wisemen came to Mary and Joseph’s house to bring Jesus his gifts,” said Handzlik.

Handzlik says the drive-in nativity is a great way to bring families together to teach their young ones what Christmas is truly about.

“Some children don’t realize and think it’s about Santa Claus and a day off from school.

This really gives parents a chance to show their children visually what Christmas is and why we celebrate it,” he added.
